Home Health: Green Leaf Chem-Dry Removes Allergens & Bacteria from Your Home
The first thing you should know is that your carpet and furniture act like air filters in your home. And that’s a good thing! Fabrics in the home can keep unwelcome molecules out of the air we breathe, thus make our homes cleaner and safer. However, like air filters, carpets gather enough contaminants that it must be properly cleaned to remain effective at trapping particles. Without routine carpet cleanings, every step you take will reintroduce these allergens and bacteria into the air instead of trapping them.
It’s important to remember that for the 1 in 5 Americans (roughly 60 million) that have allergies or asthma, removing airborne allergens and molecules can improve the comfort of their own home. Routine vacuuming and cleaning coupled with a professional cleaning at least once a year is the best way to rid your home of common allergens and bacteria. Seems pretty straight-forward, right?
Lab Study Results
You don’t have to just take our word for it. To prove it, Chem-Dry commissioned a leading independent air quality laboratory to conduct a study on our ability to remove allergens and bacteria from your home.
The study tested our innovative Hot Carbonated Extraction (HCE) carpet and upholstery cleaning method as well as our tile cleaning process. We tested for allergen and bacteria removal in each service, and also our Pet Urine Removal Treatment (P.U.R.T.®). This study used a cross-section of various consumer homes throughout both the US and the rest of the world. See the results below:
Carpet & Upholstery
- We remove 97.4% of allergens from carpets.
- We remove 99.1% of allergens from upholstery.
- We remove 89.0% of airborne bacteria in the home, significantly improving indoor air quality. This test incorporated the addition of a sanitizer to the cleaning process.
Pet Urine Removal Treatment (P.U.R.T.®)
Common odor sources from cat and dog urine were tested against Chem-Dry’s process:
- Our P.U.R.T.® treatment is 99.9% effective on average at eliminating pet urine odors.
- Our P.U.R.T.® treatment removes an average of 99.2% of the bacteria from the pet urine stains in the carpets.
Tile, Stone & Grout
The independent lab tested our Tile, Stone & Grout Cleaning Process along with a sanitizer (using Milgo Plus in some tests and Benefect Decon 30 in others) on tile surfaces.
- Our Tile, Stone & Grout cleaning process along with a sanitizer removed an average of 98.6% of the bacteria from the tile surfaces.
Tested and Proven
CHEM-DRY VS. ALLERGENS
Seeing as we all breathe air, the quality of it is important to our good health, especially for those who suffer from allergies and disorders like asthma. If too many allergens are present in the air, someone could struggle breathing and even suffer an allergic reaction or asthma attack. An atmosphere we can control more easily is that of our own home. The fact is, we spend an average of 90% of our time indoors! For that reason, we should be more proactive at maintaining good indoor air quality.
One of the best ways to control air quality is carpet and upholstery cleaning. Because fabrics act like filters, professional cleanings are so important for the health of your home and your family. However, you should know that not all carpet cleaning services are alike. So, what makes Green Leaf Chem-Dry so much more effective than other carpet cleaners in Washington?
An independent home health study discovered that Chem-Dry’s Hot Carbonating Extraction (HCE) eliminated an average of 98.1% of common household allergens from the carpets and upholstery throughout the multiple homes tested. The common allergens tested include cat dander, dog dander, and dust mite allergens. There might not be another carpet cleaner out there that has invested as much time and money into developing their products and equipment as we have. Chem-Dry truly is broadening the horizon in regards to home cleaning.
IMPROVED INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Fun fact that isn’t so fun, the average home harbors about 200,000 bacteria for every square inch of carpet. That means, with every step you take on your carpet, billions of unwanted particles are reintroduced into your home’s air. Those particles can circulate and remain in the air until they are breathed in or are removed by a professional cleaner like Green Leaf Chem-Dry.
A Chem-Dry carpet cleaning drastically improves the air quality in your home. The same study mentioned above also found that, when our HCE carpet cleaning process is supplemented with a sanitizer, we remove an average of 89% of the bacteria in the air and 82.3% of the bacteria from carpets.
